Let There Be Lamposts

This is an Orthodox Catholic cathedral north of Toronto. When it was first built there was absolutely nothing else around it. Today, years later, it’s virtually surrounded by houses. I don’t even know if this cathedral is ever used; the grounds are surrounded by fencing, and the gate to the drive is locked. I’ve never seen anyone here.

Drink Coca-Cola

This old Coca-Cola mural is hidden in a narrow alley between two buildings on Yonge Street in Aurora, Ontario, just south of Wellington Street. I’ve driven past this spot countless times for more than 20 years but never noticed this mural until just a few weeks ago.

West from the CN Tower

This is the view west from the top of the CN Tower in downtown Toronto. The white building in the bottom left corner is the SkyDome (I refuse to call it the Rogers Centre). The elevated roadway along the left edge is the Gardiner Expressway, which runs past the National Trade Centre (the white, flat-roofed building) at Exhibition Place. The railway tracks lead away from Union Station (not pictured) and fork to go along the shore of Lake Ontario to the left, and northwest to Georgetown and north to Barrie to the right. There are also far too many condo buildings to count!
