Spotted outside One Yonge Street on a very windy day. The title of this picture is a play on words, borrowing a line from the movie So I Married an Axe Murderer. In it, Mike Myers plays (among others) the role of a Scottish father who at a wedding where the bagpiper collapses calmly says into the microphone, ‘Piper down. We have a piper down.’
Crystallized
The frost on my car windows formed some interesting patterns yesterday morning.
Captain John’s
This is Captain John’s Seafood, a floating restaurant permanently docked at the foot of Yonge Street, in Toronto. I’ve never eaten there. The ship’s name is Jadran.
A Walk in the Park
Members of the Toronto Police Service Marine Unit walk across the frozen water of Toronto’s Inner Harbour toward the islands off shore.
Miniature Toronto Skyline at Night
This effect is achieved using Adobe® Photoshop® to narrow the depth of field to the extreme. Your eye tricks your brain into thinking the shallow depth of field equates to a model of the real thing. Original photo.
Reflecting
The sun and the clouds are reflected in the glass of the MacLaren McCann building at the corner of Bay St. and Queen’s Quay.
Shifty Lookin’ Fella
He’s a pretty shifty lookin’ fella alright, but he also happens to be a co-worker of mine. Luis didn’t know I was taking this picture, so to make it up to him I’ll put in a plug for his website.
Wish You Were Here
Full moon.
Fakey
Okay, I don’t remember what this particular move is really called (my skateboarding days being long behind me), so I’m just calling it a Fakey. If you happen to know the real name, post a comment. This was shot ad hoc: the camera was preset and zoomed out, and I was holding it down at my side as we walked out for lunch. I snapped this without looking – just clicked the shutter and prayed for the best. Not bad!
