The elevated roadway along the left edge is the Gardiner Expressway, which runs past the National Trade Centre (the white, flat-roofed building) at Exhibition Place. The railway tracks lead away from Union Station (not pictured) and fork to go along the shore of Lake Ontario to the left, and northwest to Georgetown and north to Barrie to the right.
